Aloe vera is becoming more and more popular in the beauty industry. International consumption of this plant is growing steadily, according to recent statistics released by Future Market Insights (IMF).
The IMF report reveals that the plant is becoming essential in the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. The 2016 international consumption volume is on the verge of exceeding 60,720.4 tonnes, representing $ 1.6 billion. The trend is expected to continue, with international revenues in excess of $ 3.3 billion by 2026.
Cosmetics, a key sector of the aloe vera market, will account for 45% of international demand in 2016, an increase of 6% compared to 2015, according to the report’s predictions. But why such a success?
The trend reflects the democratization of natural organic products and care. As a result of the success of the “Slow Cosmetic” movement in Europe (adoption of products with 100% natural formulas) and the generalization of sustainable practices: brands favor more eco-friendly methods.
With over 75 different nutrients, aloe vera works as a beauty super ingredient. Its transparent natural gel has long been used in medicine, especially in the treatment of skin infections. The plant is increasingly used against eczema, dandruff and psoriasis. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it an ally against acne and skin blemishes.
The plant provides antioxidants, vitamins C and E, which firm and hydrate the skin in addition to improving elasticity. As a natural moisturizer, the substance oxygenates the skin and strengthens it from within.
To top it off, the herb soothes arthritis, rheumatism, and aids digestion – and we all know beauty starts inside. The beauty industry is convinced. And you?
