Robert De Niro, the legendary Hollywood actor and co-founder of Nobu Hospitality, has expressed his fascination and admiration for Morocco and its culture. In a recent interview with Forbes magazine, De Niro said that Morocco has a “whole mystery about it” and that there is something “very beautiful and lyrical” about the country. He also said that he would love to see the artwork that comes out of Marrakech, the city where he opened his first hotel in Africa, the Nobu Hotel Marrakech, in May 2023.
De Niro is not new to Morocco, as he has visited the country several times, especially for the Marrakech International Film Festival, where he received the Golden Star award in 2018 for his exceptional career2. He also said that he has many friends who have filmed their movies in Morocco, and that he himself would like to shoot some films there in the future. “I don’t know when and how this dream will come true, but it can happen,” he said.
De Niro is one of the many celebrities who have fallen in love with Morocco and its charms. He joins the likes of Madonna, Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith, and David Beckham, who have all praised the country and its hospitality. Morocco is indeed a special place, as De Niro said, and a destination that attracts art, creativity, and glamour.
